Tube table organized by type?

Is there a table or something that lists tube #s according to type? As near as I can tell there is not a direct systematic relationship between the type of valves within a tube and the tube designation #. I realize the correlation between the first # and the filament voltage, but beyond that things seem to be all over the map. Maybe there is a pattern and I haven't recognized it.

The US system is not rigorous, but the scheme is:

First number indicating heater or filament voltage

Next one or more letters indicating type

Next a number indicating useful elements in tube

Fourth, letter indicating size or construction type

So like a 5Y3-G is:

5 volts heater
Y for rectifier
3 useful elements
G in a glass envelope

Or 50L6-GT is
50 volts heater
L beam power amp
6 useful elements
GT - small glass envelope

There are a lot of exeptions to these rules. Tube manual will help you out to specifically if you are looking for multi-purpose tubes like triode-pentode, triodr-triode, etc.
