I'm ordering a gauss meter today and wanted to know which model you guys prefer?

1-Carlsen

2-alpha labs
http://www.trifield.com/gauss_meter.htm

Thanks

Just ordered it.

Spence, the guy at Carlsen remembered you. Said they can't ship to the Uk anymore.

Cool company.

How come they can't ship to the UK anymore? RoHS reasons perhaps?

Something about the way they're labeled.

Half of my tools are still sitting in America and every month or 2 I have a few things shipped over here. If you cover the duty on the meter I could throw it in with a box of my stuff and then you wouldn't have to pay international shipping, just the extra fees and taxes.

Why are they here anyway? Are you international builder? I thought maybe if they would'nt ship to you, You could perchase the meter, and send it here, and I will send it to you, marked as a GIFT, and lable it something else. Just trying to help out. Wheather its me...or someone else willing....its for the same cause. Thats pretty shitty. Trying to get some very useful equepment to better your products and haveing this type of headache. I'd personally be pissed,

My tools are in the US because I only moved to the UK a year ago. I was going to sell my old stuff and buy new stuff in the UK but I quickly found out that quality tools are next to impossible to come by here. When we do get them we have to import them from the USA or Germany and pay 2 or 3 times as much for them. Getting told you can't buy it is also something we get used to. It used to make me angry, but it's something you get used to.

Easy tiger. You can buy quality tools here. I certainly do but there is a culture of flooding the market with el cheapo DIY novelty tools. These are not designed to be used seriously.
Anyway, it's a little known fact that anything I bring in from the States suddenly becomes outlawed here. I'm sure the men in black think I'm a master bomb maker or something.

So I guess we can blame Spence then. Just do me a favor and tell me what you plan to import so that I can get one 1st. ;p

I guess I was a bit unfair with the no quality tools here. Perhaps part of my problem is that I live in mid Wales. None of the stores here are big enough or specialized enough to find the tools that I need to make my guitars. Everything here has a different name too so I don't really know what to search for online. Companies like Axminster have some pretty nice stuff but they never have the really specialized things that I seem to need.

You're safe for the time being. Nothing on the wish list at the moment.

What sort of specialised tools are you looking for? I may know where to source them and what they're called over here.

My contact number is on my website; give me a call if you like.
