This is for you Texas Tax payers LOOK OUT!

BIG Spenders are Busting the
Constitutional Spending Cap.

On Wednesday the Texas Senate, by sidestepping the 2/3s rule, passed SCR 20, the “Bust the Cap” resolution by 17 to 12. The 2/3s rule was sidestepped by ruling the “Bust the Cap” resolution was “non-substantive”. (How is it that a vote to override a provision in the Texas Constitution could be non-substantive?)

Only 3 Republican Senators stood up for conservative principles and the Republican Party platform by voting against the resolution. Senators Nelson, Nichols and Patrick joined the nine Democrats voting against the resolution. Democratic Senator Lucio sided with the Republican majority.

In the House, more parliamentary tactics to fast track the “Bust the Cap” measures have passed with 18 Republicans voting yes, two Democrats voting no and nine Democrats registering as present but not voting. Unless we act quickly the BIG Spenders will succeed.

Before the Senate vote, Senator Dan Patrick illustrated, with a cool million dollars in cash at a Capitol news conference, how much every 200 taxpayers in Texas pay every two years to the state in taxes. He warned, that by busting the cap, the states budget will grow to $160 billion. He said that by cutting 5 percent of the budget, there would be plenty of money to fund the property tax cuts.

Patrick said that 100 percent of his precinct chairs would be willing to forego some property tax relief in order to keep spending in check. A poll on his radio show found 85 percent agreed with this position.

The news conference was quite impressive and can be viewed by going to: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/avarch...p?ram=00003034

To watch Senator Patrick’s impressive remarks on the Senate floor, view the video starting at 1 hour, 13 minutes, 45 seconds at: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/avarch...p?ram=00003038

Please contact your elected officials today and tell them to vote NO on busting the spending cap. To find the contact information for your elected officials go to http://www.legis.state.tx.us/

Scary that these people in power can just keep jacking up taxes more and more and more. When does it stop with these folks? How much does Rick Perry need to spend anyway? This is outrageous!!!

heh, no one responded to this one? I know there is a few Texans here in the ampage crowd.

On another note, the vote in Texas legislation for busting the spending cap was voted and the spending cap was busted, now Mr. rick Perry can spend even more hard earned cash from the middle class on BS and no one is stopping him. Seems mostly the Repubs voted for this busting cap. Where the hell was the Dems on voting against it???

I read today on an average that most Americans are now paying around 40% of their salaries to taxes. This is paid to the state and federal government.

Sounds like taxing is in WAY OVER saturation. I just keep wondering who can save any money for their old age retirement? Maybe the government should just make us all slaves as thats where its heading!

Disgusted in Texas!
