odd Orange problem.

So I installed a PPIMV on an Orange 120.
the type with a dual 1M and the 2 extra caps.
Now for some reason the V2A is clipping, becoming a pulse generator.
The amp uses V2B pins 1&3 to drive the output tubes.
Now here's the odd part.....if I inject a signal into the FX return jack, everything is fine, V2A amplifies great, and the MV works as it should
I tried different preamp tubes.
I quadruple checked my wiring, but I'm sure I'm missing something stupid.

Okay so apparently you need input grid resistance for a stage to amplify.
The grid resistor was on the "send" jack that I removed to install a standby switch.
