peavey 300 cuts out

I have a peavey 300 combo that plays for a while then squeaks and cuts out. if I turn the pre and post to full along with the bass/instrument volume and pound the strings it bounces back, only to cut out a few minutes later. i'm also having issues with a suitcase rhodes amp, but i'll save that for later.

You have described the classic loop jack problem.

Take a spare guitar cord and plug into the patch out jack, and the plug the other end right back into the patch return jack. If that restores the sound, then the return jack needs service or replacement.

ANd if it wasn't that, then move down to the end and do the same test with the preamp out and power amp in jacks - connect them together. if THAT helps, then the power amp jack needs service or repplacement.

Of course it could be other things, but I'd be betting on one of those.
