| Mod for a Fender 63 Reissue Reverb Tank.
This is the reissue stand alone tube reverb tank. I am looking for more control from my mix and dwell knobs. Right now I use both of them on about 2. After that there is too much reverb. I would like to have more control from both of these knobs. I need a bigger range. What mod do I need to do to get a bigger range from these two knobs? I have done the C10 cap mod and am running NOS tubes including a 6K6. It sounds really good but I just need more control. Here is a link to the Service Manual for the unit. http://www.schematicheaven.com/fende...erb_manual.pdf |

I think you need to further articulate what you mean by a "bigger range". Indicating that you currently use two of the controls "on 2" sort of implies that you wish to expand the range of adjustment below that point, and have little or no need for anything above it. That in turn suggests merely a pot taper/value issue, rather than any sort of additional tonal control or variation. So, whaddya need it to do? |

the original's pots were Linear-taper....perhaps the reissue has audio-taper?

Both of the pots are 250k linear. Here is a mod that someone suggested. What do you think? what you do is sub 'em for say 50k pots, and "fill" the rest of range with a (200k) resistor: you'd be basically hardwiring 4/5th of the pot's range into the unit. You can also choose a 100k pot and 150k resistor for a broader (1-4) range. Id say the resistor goes between the .01 cap and the pot on the dwell, and between the 250p (390 in your case) tonecap and pot on the mix. if it gives too much, put it on the other side of the pot. |
