I recently noticed that you can now buy a Dimarzio’s Super Distortion for about $59.95. It seems like not to long ago they were going for $69 and $79. Is it me or have other folks seen prices for major brand pickups dip in the last year or so? IMO with all the new boutique pickup makers, ebayer winders, and lower cost pickups from Asia, the big 3 are starting to see their market share slip and they’re countering the decrease in sales with lower prices of their pickups in an attempt to rejuvenate sales. Even Seymour has launched into the pedals market to expand his offerings to boost sales. |

I would think you are correct. But I don't consider myself as competition to Dimarzio or SD's regular production. Most of us here are more of a "custom shop" and service a different market.

I understand there are a lot of people raving about GFS pickups. This one brand maybe doing the big boys some damage. However, people seem to have love affairs with a brand for a relatively short while and then end up back with the big boys. Nobody here is threatening Duncan and DiMarzio, rest assured. |

On this side of the pond DM and SD are still charging around 65 quid per humbucker (giver or take) which is about $120. The major hand winding guys like BKP are selling for around 85 quid or $160. I feel like I could compete with that if I wanted to.
