    Sheesh, I don't believe I forgot Booker T. Jones!
I guess you're either into Hammond B3 or you're not. It just happens that I am.

Here's a playlist, starting with some of his newer material.

Here's Booker T. jamming with CCR in 1970. I haven't listened to the hour and five minute recording.
But it must count as an obscure deep track!
FWIW, I do vaguely recall hearing John Fogerty play Green Onions with Booker T. and the MGs on TV.

Wasn't he that Brit musical theatre guy who played in a U.S. sitcom about a fictional rock band?
I heard him on Terry Gross show once.
He agreed with John Lennon that the Monkees were closer to the Marx Brothers than to the Beatles.

Nothing at all wrong with a B3. Here is a classic Jimmy Smith from 1967, T-bone Steak

I used some of his music back in the 60s when I was on the radio. It was perfect instrumental stuff for behind announcements and what not.

But my favorite moment with this song was when we were touring, and in the middle of some long jam tune, I forget what, the guitarist ends his solo and sends it to Ken, our keyboard. Ken does a long solo and at some point breaks into the basic riff of this song, and it was the bulk of his solo. Little did he know I knew the piece. The guitarist was smiling at him like "say, that is tasteful". But I busted him. At the end I said over the mic, "Chris on guitar, ladies and gentlemen. And a little T-bone Steak from Ken on the Hammond." Ken had no idea any of us had even heard of Jimmy Smith.

Well hell, Green Onions is worth a post:

Don't call yourself an old timer and pretend you don;t know who Davy Jones was...

    I'm taking you in on a 412.

    A 412? WHAT'S A 412?

    Overacting.
