Fuzz Face Clone DIY question Neg-tip?

Hello everyone, I am new to building effects, and am just getting my feet wet. I have done an LPB-1 and built aby boxes, Dying battery simulators, blah blah blah. I want to step up a tiny bit and move onto a Fuzz face layout I found. My question for all of you is this. On this layout, if I want to change the battery to a DC jack. Is it negative pin? Or positive like some of the older fuzz pedals? Can I change this? Also, if anyone can explain how this circuit works, or a resource I could go to and find this information? Also, how could I add a tone control like the big muff one on Beavis Audio website? I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Here is the link to the layout I want to use. I plan on just using Pad-per-hole perfboard. This is going to be nothing Fancy, just a fuzz for my personal use, that I can tweak and learn on.

The polarity of this specific layout must be observed when adding a DC power supply.
I do not understand what you are questioning.
The dc supply gets hooked up just like the battery.
In this case the "grounding" of the circuit does appear reversed.
What would "normally" be ground is connected to the + side of the battery.

This circuit has been adapted so that the Germanium PNP transistors could be used with a "normal" negative ground power supply like a Boss which has a positive outer sleeve and a negative center pin. As Jazz said just connect the dc in jack so that the plus and minus sides match the battery connections.

As for the tone control, I'd guess that you should insert it just before the output volume control. I don't know if the circuit will cause any loading problems or if the cap values will work with in this application, but if you try it you have nothing to lose but a little time and you might learn something from the experiment.
