    Email alerts for subscribed threads

I hope this is the proper forum for my question

I'm not getting email alerts for subscribed threads. I tried two different email addresses (different providers as well) but still no go.
    Would anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

The site has been up, then down, then up again.
    Kinda like a pogo stick
But, yeah, I have not been receiving them either.

The problem is not at your end Stratz so you just need to wait until they start working again.
I have noticed this in the past and the alerts for old subscriptions did eventually start working again.

I'm still not receiving any email alerts. Now I'm starting to wonder if the problem could be at my end.
Are there only the three of us who have this problem?
I checked my profile and my email address is present and correct.

I don't get any, but then I never signed up for any. I get enough email already, don;t need more.

I started receiving email alerts aging as of last evening.
    I like that feature.

Wow, I had no idea there were so many replies

I got an alert for this thread today but not for any of the others I've posted in.
I agree, it is a great feature if you like to keep track of certain conversations without having to hunt them down or check on your subscribed threads.

I realize lots of people like that, but I don;t really get it. That is not a criticism, just not sure what it does.

I only look on the forum from my desk computer, so I suppose if you just have to do this walking down the street on your smart phone...

What I don;t get, is the subscribing to threads thing. Each day, I log on, the menu comes up. From the menu I have interest in the Music Electronics, Schematics, Guitar amps, Other amps, less often the FX, and every now and then the Hang Out section. And perhaps it matters, I usually don;t go look up my email until later. Looking at the menu I can see if there are posts more recent than my last visit from the time/date of the last post. A quick click and I see any unread posts and any potentially interesting new threads. I am gonna look anyway, so knowing ahead of time that someone responded to my post from yesterday doesn;t help me. Old threads sink out of sight on the listings. ANy active threads I might be following or posting in will still be up there and visible.

SO I am obviously missing something as to how folks use this feature.

I think I need to edit my profile over at Peavey. There I do get emails telling me someone left me a PM. Well, DUH, it says Message Waiting at the top of the page when I get there. Why do I need an email telling me that? If I were getting these email alerts on some thread and 20 people posted in it overnight, would I get 20 emails?

I am not being flippant, I genuinely wonder what advantages the system brings.

Nope. You just get one email until you visit the post again. If you have lost interest in the thread and don't go back and click on it then it doesn't notify you again.
The alerts are good for those of us that want to know when a reply has been posted without going back and checking. It's like having a bell go off when the mail has been delivered. Of course you need to keep your email open. My email is often open in the background but I must avoid checking the forum too much or I don't get enough of my work done. To each his own.

Rather than keep track of my last visit, I just log in and click on New Posts. Different way of doing the same thing.

Oh, "keep track" just means looking for today's date rather than yesterday.
