Revisiting an Old Project 100w Plexi

    Hi guys,

I have a 100w Plexi I built from a MetroAmp kit sometime ago.

It has been bugging me enough that I finally am getting around to seeing if its normal.

The amp has what I would call an excessive amount of hum/background noise. I will try and post some video clips of the noise later this week but wanted to get your opinions first.

First, how much background noise should be around in a 100w Plexi? I used a "star" type grounding scheme I found on the MetroAmp forum but unfortunately the MetroAmp forum is quite dead now a days.

This is the scheme I used for my 100w build

Which is an adaption to the "star" style grounding for my JTM45 build and the amp is dead quiet compared to this one.

My basic question is could this "alternative" grounding scheme be the source of the background noise I am experiencing or is this all in my head?

Here are some pictures of the build

    Thanks guys you rock!
