Look around antique electronics supply, tubesandmore.com
you have to special order from a bourns dealer, they have audio grade pots.
may not be stocked, but you can order it.

Alpha does make the dual pot in both linear and audio (approx 15% taper). They DO have a shallow thread, BUT, it's a 3/8" hole. It's a fairly shallow thread. You may need to modify mounting to accomodate. I don't know of a deeper thread 3/8" hole pot in a dual 1M of any taper. Good luck.

Is this for a specific repair? Is this for a personal design?

i have an amp that a friend built for me. its an Orange clone/copy so he made an Orange style face plate out of more than heavy enough steel which is the same gauge of steel that he used for the chassis.

i guess i'll start at Bourns site with an email to them...

You should look through the bourns catalogs and formulate the part number:
    http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pd..._pro_audio.pdf
    http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pdfs/PDA24.pdf
    For example, PDA242 SRT-02- 105A2 is
dual concentric 1 meg audio taper, with a plain shaft...
You MUST research your part numbers, before you make a special order.

Unfortunately, a lot of the people who sell off the shelf controls, won't be bothered to explain the physical measurements.
OR if they do, the measurements are WRONG. and so, I can see the frustration.
I have the same difficulty all the time.

If I was going to do this I would contact Precision Electronics Canada, and ask them to make the controls.
Just because, I like their construction and I like the super even taper of the control...
( Audio taper can mean quite a range of options, and many pots are different)
AND I like the stainless steel construction.

    Precision Electronics Corporation: Potentiometers
    Check out MIL style 2RV7
CALL the factory and talk to the applications engineer directly.

If I was building from scratch, I would use PEC without hesitation.
I have never found a finer control for audio.
NOTE: PEC has stainless steel shaft. You MUST use knobs with a steel set screw. Brass set screw will not work.
Fender knobs have steel set screws. Cheap knobs do not.
