    Knock off "Vintage" speakers

A few weeks ago a guy at a local music store mentioned that his friend got some "cheap" speakers that were "very good" clones of Greenbacks and Vintage 30s. And by cheap, I think it was like $25 ea. I've heard of these before, but blew it off. Well, this guy had the right attitude- it doesn't SOUND right, but for $25 its worth a look.

Does ANYONE know who makes these? I can't get in touch with the guy I talked to and can't track it down on google. (tried every iteration of keywords and got nothing again and again)

    THanks!

    Thanks!

I've read up on these, and exchanged emails with the owner. They are well reviewed and seem to be the real deal (within limits). I know the 'get what you pay for' adage is about stuff exactly like this, but I've yet to see someone rip them! I'm building my new 2x12 cab tomorrow, and I'd much rather put $40 in new speakers into it than the two crapmeisters I have in my amp now (fender labeled jensens) or unload my weber and eminence cabs.
I'm going for it. I just made the decision in my head. Now where is that debit card.......

    Hey Fellas,
I'm the one that started the march thread. I did this because these are the best deal I have found and I thought every one here could benefit fromn this guy selling these cheap.
The story is that a certain manufacturer sold off a wharehouse full of these for some unknown reason and David the owner of Wharehouse speakers bought them.

David said he would sell them cheap to get his company off the ground and running. I've bought 6 of the 12" vintage speakers and so far so good. I have compared them to the real Celestion vintage 30's and they sound just like them except for the real deal celestion vintage 30's always have a bit of hi harshness and these clones don't have that.

Best deal I've found in years and I'll bet once he sells these off you won't get that kind of deal any more. I emailed David before I bought the first one and he explained the background on these speakers. I like the ones I have in my 2x12 cab and about to put 4 in a Marshall cab also to replace the T75-12 speakers in that cab. In my opinion the real celestion vintage 30's are way too hi priced. These clones are excellent to say the least. These also beat the eminence speakers I've tried over the years.

    Hope this helps.

    agreed...I put one into a 2x12 Avatar open-backed cab with a "Hellatone 30".

    EXCELLENT sound.

I use another in an external tweed cab (thanks Bruce!) with a Lion 7 amp which has a Mojo BV-30V in it.

Can't beat the price, even if the shipping is pricey!

If you contact David and ask for better shipping prices on more than one speaker he will probably give you a better shipping price.

I asked and he gave me a better shipping price on the 6 speakers I ordered.

Hey TD, How did the sound of the clone compare to the hellatones tone?

The clone is VERY like a Vintage 30....and since Avatar usually mixes a Vintage 30 and the G12H30 (bassier) in their cabs, I decided to follow-through....I've got to admit the cab sounds KILLER.

    BTW, the Hellatone 30 is a "broken-in" G12H30 (30 watts). The Hellatone 60 is a "broken-in" Vintage 30 (60 watts).

This is a bit premature, but my V30 and Classic80 clones showed up today. My new cabinet is not yet ready to go, so I popped the V30 into a Fender M80 Chorus SS amp. And it blew me away. The two 12s look like David and Goliath in there.
My quick response review as of this point- Heaven's to Mergatroid! THIS is what this SS amp can sound like? Why have I had it stored away for all these years? Really, it didn't just sound good compared to the stock. It sounded good period. And its just out of the box.

    More to come.

I just installed four of the Vintage models in my Soldano 4x12 last night... And I have to say that I am more than impressed with these speakers. They are fat, smooth on the highs and have a thick punch midrange. They make those Soldano X1200 speakers sound like toys.

    These are keepers for sure...

    Kudos to Warehouse Speakers!!!!
