Pickup problem - no sound at all when switching pickups with the pickup-switch.

Hello, I have a Epiphone Sheraton II with two humbucker-pickups. Anyway, there seems to be something wrong with the pickupswitch. Sometimes when I flick the switch and then try to play I don't get any sound at all. I was wondering if that is a problem I could fix myself or do I have to take it back to the store and let them fix it? Anyways, I'd like to know what you think is the problem? I don't think it's that seriouse though. Thanks in advance!
