    Software for creating PTP drawings?

Is there a recommended software program to create drawings of PTP boards? I did some net searches but found CAD programs designed for PCB/solid state devices only.

    Thanx,

    Bill

I'd think any basic drawing or mechanical CAD package would do it for you.

I used OpenOfficeDraw to do my last layout (and schematic). It's a little like Visio.

Then there's KiCAD - a free schematic/PCB tool (see the thread in the Computer-Related subforum). The schematic tool has the advantage that it will spit out a BOM and a netlist/wirelist if you talk to it right.

I guess I'm having a problem understanding what you're really looking for/want to accomplish.

    Thanx Don and Euthymia,

I thought there might be a program tailored to creating electronics/amp layouts, with resistors, caps, etc. pre-drawn so clicking and dragging would be possible, vs. drawing every component. Obviously I've never used a CAD program before.

Don, did you create the components in your program, and is this an easy task?

    Thanx,

    Bill

    Bill,

Sorry for the error in the url. The link I posted was supposed to go to a site that has free layout software for perf and stripboard.

    Here is the correct url:

I did, it is - make the first one and copy as needed. Nearly any electronic CAD will still require you to build the odd component here and there - a good one will help you build a library.

Euthymia - that package looks neat, too bad it's Windows-only (as far as I can tell).
