Low output Fender Bandmaster

I'm planning on building an amp with the following characteristics :

- Fender style
- tremolo circuit from the Bandmaster 6G7-A
- spring reverb
- single 6V6 output
- single 10" speaker

What I have in mind is to take the 6G7-A schematic as a starting
point and replace the PI and output section with a Champ output.
Then add a typical Fender reverb circuit.

I'd like to use Allen Amps TP40D (320V-0-320V @ 180ma,
5V @ 3A, 6.3V @ 4.5A) power transformer along with the
TO11C output transformer.

Is there any problem with this idea ? Suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Paul P

seems good, i assume the hefty PT is so that it can handle the reverb? i dont know much at all about reverbs, but do they suck that much power?

I doubt reverb circuits use alot of current. Look how small the power tranny's are in Princeton reverbs or even Deluxe reverbs.
sounds like a good idea for a build, but that's pretty much the way Fenders are anyway....basically the same preamp circuit with many different output combinations. 2-6V6's, 2-6L6's or 4-6L6's!

Are you planning to use a tube rectifier???

Thanks for the replies.

The main reason to use such a large transformer is just to
have it in reserve if I later decide to go to a move powerful
output stage.

I'll be building my circuits as modules so that I can experiment
with swapping different parts in and out. I'm particularly
interested in trying out different tremolo circuits.

I plan on using a tube rectifier (probably a GZ34).

nice, how about another single ended output tube that you can switch in/out for more power?

Adding another output tube shouldn't be a problem but I'm not
sure how to wire it. Do you just use a "Y" to the grids and
another one from the plates to the output transformer ?

I believe you can wire both tubes in parallel, and just have a switch between the cathode of one output tube and ground, thus turning off the one tube.
