Reverend Transformers?

I was just looking at these transformers as possible build material:
http://www.reverendguitars.com/reverend/amp_parts.html

I guess all it has to do is stay together, but I don't think I've ever seen this before in my limited experience poking around in amps.
The thing that strikes me as a little strange is the construction.
Is it normal to hold transformers together like this with a radiator hose clamp and shrinkwrap?

Cheers
