Batten down the hatches or GTFO!

Looks like Florida is on deck for the next major storm. We maybe going on a road trip for a while. Ivan was pretty bad on 04 or 05.

I'm on the fence still. I just installed shutters and I have a new roof. But this will be my first hurricane, and looks to be a badass. I'm on the Gulf Coast, and current models suggest it will take a right and hit the East Coast. We will still have heavy weather, but if the models are accurate, we should be OK.

OTOH, if it heads this way by Saturday, there will be no getting out anyway. Major routes are already crammed, and finding gas and water is way difficult. Forget about finding safe lodging unless you can make it to AL. So I guess I take my chances and fetch my mother from Sarasota and bring her down here. I don't know what else I could do or where we would go. Pretty scary.
It's weird, because it WAS working fine.....

    Hey, be safe man.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

From my experience in IVAN in 04.
Get your prescriptions, Water water water, food, a fan for sure cause it will get hot and sticky aftwards, a generator, a chainsaw to cut your way out of the yard. A shovel so you can dig a pit and use your stove racks to cook food on when the freezer starts to go.(We dug a hole put 2 cinderblocks in it and stove rack on top to cook the meat. Some people felt the need for a gun for looters we had them running around. Good luck and take care.
