Distortion is a form of signal degradation. It is pretty easy to define what a good "clean" signal is, but trying to achieve just the right kind of "broken" can be pretty maddening. - glebert

+1 on the Electric KoolAid Acidtest. Good read on the scene of the Merry pranksters.

Always liked Tom Wolfe's writing. Electric Kool-Aid, of course, without a doubt terrific. Sort of introduced us to the "family", Kesey, Babbs, the Hassler, and the rest of the Olompali gang. Plus the Bus, loads of fun and adventures with that. You're either on the bus or off the bus. I got to read Bonfire of the Vanities as it was released a chapter at a time in Rolling Stone about 32 years ago. Another one for the recommended reading list. I was lucky enough to see the man himself at the checkout desk of the Richmond City Library, must have been around Christmas 1973. Neat as a pin in his white suit. And his hair was perfect!

In an interview a couple weeks ago, Tom said he had 5 more books he was planning. How near any were to completion, he didn't say. One of the great American authors of the last 100 years, I'm gonna miss him.

LOL. You make him sound like a Werewolf of London.

"I happen to have an original 1955 Stratocaster! The neck and body have been replaced with top quality Warmoth parts, I upgraded the hardware and put in custom, hand wound pickups. It's fabulous. There's nothing like that vintage tone or owning an original." - Chuck H

Well, he sort of was that. In the case of Bonfires, the gentleman in white politely rips the gubbins out of the rich and pompous. Easily on a level with Jonathan Swift, Mark Twain, Baudelaire. I wonder if his unfinished works will ever see the light of day.
