Tubeman I

Does anyone have schematic for the Hughes and Kettner Tubeman I. This is not the Tubeman II, for which the schematic is easy to get.

Why do I need this schematic?

I am a dumbarse and took out all the pots when I changed them without taking notes and then my "foolproof" physical layout was attacked by a curious cat. I guessed and replaced them like this:
Gain: 50k
Treble: 500k
Mid: 50k
Bass: 810k

Is it right?

I have tried H&K for years but they are unhelpful or unresponsive. Somebody must have a schematic. I have seen a few other requests but the links are dead or gone...

Maybe I should try the internet "way-back machine"...

I found a schematic and fixed my Tubeman I, blown power transformer which I was able to order it OEM from Yorkville sound (H&K new parts distributor in north america). In the mean time, I used an "in the ballpark" transformer backwards and really liked the sound. The B+ was 200v. The OEM tranny, when it finally arrived, put out 300v B+ and it sounded worse! I tripled the dropping resitor so the B+ is back to 200V and it sounds just awesome. I honestly didn't think this pedal could sound any better but it did.

Right now my best high gain tone comes 200V B+ on a blackplate RCA 7025 and low-wind Lollar Imperials. It's my low-low combo and everything is there: pinch harmonics on every string, swelling notes, round pick attack, lower noise. I highly recomend this experiment that bucks the conventional wisdom of high gain tubes, high output p/u.

Thanks a third time for this tip. My Tubeman has been sitting in my closet for years until I saw your post. Yorkville put me in touch with the local Japanese distributor (Pearl Drums!) who fixed it up. It cost almost $50 just for a replacement wall-wart, but it was worth it!

I love this pedal, I have never heard anything as good but does it ever have problems! Did I metion that I had to replace TMB pots twice and am on my 2nd wall wart!

How much did you pay for your 2nd wall wart?

Actually, I had to send mine back after being repaired. The Master Volume was supposed to be replaced, but it didn't work at all initially. Eventually, it did but any little shock or even vibrations from the amp would make the volume jump dramatically and the Master volume stopped working. The J/F/B/R channel selector seemed to be the culprit because pressing it would make the problem alternately go away and come back.

Fortunately, the retailer (Ishibashi Music, Japan) was gracious enough to send it back to Pearl for another look. I just got it back last night and the volume problem was gone, but now it starts SCREECHING and HOWLING when you turn both the Gain and Master up past 3 o'clock. I don't remember having this problem before. Maybe the tube needs to be replaced? I've read that these sound much better with at 12AT7 anyway.
