Unhappy Trouble With RARE Randall Tube Amp

    Hi guys,

a few months ago i bought a Used Rare Randall RGT-100 1x12 combo.
It has 4 6l6's and is 100 watts.

Ever since ive had it i could always noticed a crackling and popping in the background. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes it was faint. Whenever it owudl occur it wouldnt just be noise, some of the pops would cause the sound to drop out completely.

I replaced the tubes with four brand new sovtek WXT+'s from tueb depot. And i tried them in my other amp. SO i know the tubes are not bad.

I also bypassed the pre amp so i know its not the pre amp.

    Now just yesterday
it went from cracles to a 90 % drop in volume and tons of fizz . even perfectly celan.

I tried adjsuting the biad pot, but no setting on it fixes that problem. As of now the amp is unuseable.

WHat might need to be fixed? What do you think the problem is?

    Thanks for your help guys.

    ~mike~

Power Tube Sockets ! Did you change the power tubes ? Do you see an arch when your playing ? The popping is most likely the 6l6's arching at high voltage and will not produce a good tone if any when this happens. Try pulling two tubes and see what happens but you should be able to see it happening. If not I would strongly think tube sockets.
