Adding an isolation transformer

For safety reasons, would an isolation transformer be recommended for this circuit? http://www.schematicheaven.com/barga...rmony_400a.pdf

If so, someone point me in the direction of one

Ok scratch that. I just did a search and saw the whole transformerless safety thread.

However, that little filament transformer for the 12AU6, is there any way to do without that?

Interesting circuit. I tried something like that with a resistor to knock down the voltage, but it created a hiss; kind of like built in applause. I didn't persue it after that. Just went to a power tranny. Safer anyway.

This might seem a little farfetched, but how can I get as much gain out of this circuit as I possibly can? The tone control were really shunting the overall output/distortion, and removing that helped a lot. I just want the amp to sound as ratty as possible. any suggestions?

How did you remove the tone control? You need some kind of resistor to ground there and the RCA tube manual says it should be 500K max with cathode bias. Just turn the pot all the way to the treble side and the cap is out of the circuit.

Well I removed the tone control and volume control, and I then put the volume where the tone pot was. I dont know, maybe the volume right after the input jack was hindering the output. I just know that putting it before the power tube resulted in a quite a boost and greater distortion. Im interested in distorting the output even more though
