| Fender/Groove connection
If you didn;t know it, Groove Tube has been acquired by Fender, and is now a division of Fender. So now we Fender warranty stations are also Groove Tube warranty stations. How about that? |

Hi Enzo Im Clay and im new here. I tried emailing you about my vox amp ( Gunn_Slinger ) You seem to be one of the most informed persons here. If you get a chance to look at my problem i would appreciate it. I think this site is great Thanks Clay Gunn_Slinger |

yep Enzo, thats correct - I read about Fender buying them out in a guitar mag last month. Aspen is staying on in some kind of advisory capacity.

I had heard about it already, I think from Music and SOund Retailer magazine, but I just received the official notification from Fender. The service center coordinator was informing us we now were also Groove warranty service centers. Hi Clay, welcome to the place. I get around to emails every so often, I get so many. I saw your email in the list. I hope you have posted your amp question in the repair forum or other appropriate section too. I prefer to have these discussions on the forum so everyone might benefit. |

Interesting. When I was a groove tube dealer the groove tubes had the highest failure rate of any of my suppliers and it was the most hassle to arrange a warranty replacement from them.

Does anybody really buy GT tubes anymore? Twenty years ago when AP started the company there might have been a need for them, because the QC on new construction tubes from China and Russia pretty much sucked. These days the quality, tone, and selection are much better in JJ, EH, even Sovteks. Why spend all that money for tubes with fancy paint?

Their Mullard copies (the 12AX7M and 5751M) are pretty slick and I think that they sound better than the tubes being sold under the Mullard name. But I avoid the rest of the crap that they sell (they used to sell NOS GE 12AX7's but they ran out in the early 00's). Steve Ahola P.S. If anyone has any hot tips on current production tubes, please share them with us! I guess I ought to wander over to the tube forum... | |
