What's this cap for?

Any idea what C13 is for in the attached? I don't understand its purpose.

I somehow missed it when I ordered parts. Will a .1 uF do instead?

thats the so-called "death-cap". Leave it off and instead install a grounded power-cord.

Do a search for death-cap....there's bound to be some entries about it.

It's there to set the chassis at AC neutral (ground, more or less). Trouble is, unless you have a polarized line cord installed, it can also make the chassis common to the AC hot.

DON'T use any larger value than stock, DO install (at a minimum) a polarized cord to force this connection to AC neutral.

A better solution would be to install a 3-prong cord and tie the chassis to the ground wire - and remove the cap entirely.
