iv got a matched set of these tubes they got 6 pins i thought power tubes have 8 pins pre 9??????

Not all tube designs use all the available pins. 6L6s only need 6 pins, so for the unneeded pins the tube can either have them fitted and left unconnected, or the pins can be omitted from the tube base. Peter.

Hey Mark, I must agree with Tom Bavis on what he said on AudioAsylum (sic!) about your tubes:it's very possible to be Russian rebranded tubes...but wich ones? True,there are some Russian 6L6-alike wich don't survive high voltages but there are some others wich perform flawless. Long story short:take some pics and post them here.This way,the identification should be more precise. Regards, |
