couple grid stopper questions

Regarding GS'rs in a high gain pre. Is it normal for a high gain pre to develop a fuzzy low end when using grid stoppers? I have tried them many times usually with lower values like 10k up to 220k. I tried a 470k the other day and noticed the low end got fuzzy. Is that typical, and if so why does that happen. second...in a high gain pre is it wise to put them on ever grid in the preamp even if you notice nothing when listening to the difference? If so would a small say 10k be the best way to go. I have already read aiken's article, but it doesn't answer these questions.

I'm hardly an expert, but I put grid stoppers on the grid of every pre-amp gain stage. The resistor in conjunction with the grid to cathode capacitance does form a high pass filter which becomes more apparent with larger resistance values. I generally use 10K to 68K as a grid stopper; if I'm looking to knock the signal down I put a voltage divider somewhere before the grid stopper.
