I've got a 1970 Traynor YBA-1 BassMaster 50W head, it's been rewired to be pretty close to a Marshall Plexi. I just noticed that the tube sockets for the power tubes aren't wired correctly.
I've got a pair of 6CA7(EL34) power tubes in there. It turns out that there's no jumper between pin 8(Cathode) and pin 1(Suppressor grid). That means that this amp's been running without the Suppressor Grid connected for appx. a year now. The amp sounds great though. The power tubes are biased correctly and are running at appx.65% of the maximum rating of these tubes, so they're running pretty cool.
I'm just wondering what effect this is having on my amp and tubes by not having the Suppressor Grid connected?
