  • Vox AC15HTVH mods

    Hi,

It's my first post here so please be tolerant if I unintentially cross lines I shouldn't (my english is not perfect either). To quickly introduce myself, I'm a musician and sound engineer, and I've been practicing electronics for a while, with buildings of studio and guitar gear in particular. Some microcontroller programming too. I regularly read at diystompboxes.com and groupdiy.com.

It's now been a while that I'm thinking of building an amp. I recently tried the Vox AC15HTVH and really loved it, especially when compared to my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. That's THE sound I've been looking for for years...

When I found this service manual with the schematic, that left no other options : I must build it ! I don't have that kind of money anyway for a new amp, and it seems to be out of production now...

However I'd like to add a master volume control to the top boost channel. My question is : what's the best place to put it ? Should I replace R34 with a 500kA pot ? Should I stick it between the two V3s (it would then be buffered by V3-2) ?

Any clues or suggestions are welcome.

    Best regards.

    Eric
