  • Jensen MOD 6'' vs Jensen Chicago 6''

Jensen MOD 6'' vs Jensen Chicago 6'' (for a reissue Champion 600)

Does anyone knows what's the difference sound-wise?

I know about the Weber but I'm not looking for a "punchy and agressive" right now.

I'd install an 8'' but I see only certain oldies will fit, not a new production one (not without filling wood/chassis)

Or what about a 6x9 speaker???

    Thank you,

    Fernando

Never tried the 6" Mod,but having tried out the 10" Mod,I would think anything would be better than it.It was/is one of the worst sounding soeakers I have ever heard.I ended up using the Weber ceramic 10S,for $30 you cant go wrong.Have no first hand experience with the Weber 6x9 but I have used a number of his 10's,12's and 15's and I like every one of them,he makes some great speakers, and I would bet this one is no exception.

      Thank you stokes.

It seems that sizes 10'' and up are a completely different world... I hope someone that has used 8 and/or 6'' sizes can tell me the difference.

Or maybe the Jensen 6'' is exactly the same in MOD or Chicago?

Sorry I couldnt give you any advice specific to the speakers you are trying to compare, just thought I'd give thoughts based on what experience I had with the 10" Mod.I know I am condemning the whole line based on a bad experience with one model, but I would tend to think the whole line would be similar,I found the 10" to be very harsh, brittle and cheap sounding.

I have one of those Mod 6" ... it doesn't seem to be voiced for a tube guitar amp. It's in the garage. (Fortunately it wasn't very expensive).

I highly recommend the Weber Signature 6 Alnico - it sounds nearly identical to a 50's alnico speaker I have, which is fantastic for tube guitar. They now have a 6" ceramic.

I've built a Mini Champ tweed cabinet to go with those 6" speakers and the 1 watt tube amp.

It seems that the Jensen Chicago 6'' sounds very good.

Thanks for your advise about the Mod and the Weber AlNiCo.
