    Only speculating, but... It's possible that the cast frame provides for a straighter cone. Stamped frame speakers can suffer from small imperfections in the straightness of the frame. There was a particular run of early chinese V30's that suffered from cone cry because of crooked frames. Even small irregularities could cause a big difference in a cones ability to reproduce the full spectrum of the speakers range. Not to mention that a stamped frame may actually distort or vibrate sympathetically causing phase anamolies. Just thinking out loud.
