  • (Re)building an amp--some newbie questions...

I picked up a homemade amp on ebay that's going to need some work but looks like a good backbone. It's 5Y3, 2-6V6, 3-12AX7, and supposedly has transformers from a Hammond organ. It sounds ok after a litle work but the builder built it with all flying leads-none of the components are attached to any kind of support. I think it would make a good 5E3 tweed Deluxe project but my knowlege is pretty limited.
I haven't measured the PT voltages or bias levels yet but I am "assuming" that I can get a 5E3 eyelet board and components, gut this one and go to it. I've tried to draw a layout of the amp as it is and I'll take some pictures but what would be really helpful to me is some narrative instructions on what goes where and gotchas to look out for. Does this exist anywhere? I've built 1 amp and done some cap jobs and other minor things; I'm hoping to get some experience from doing this build and end up with a nice-sounding amp.
Working...
