Line 6 Spider II amp no distortion

Hey all,new to the forum

My buddy dropped off his amp for me to look at, I'm wondering where to start troubleshooting it. Basically it will make sound, though it is rather quiet, all the knobs on the front work, and all the effects work. However only certain amp models work, and they only come in clean, there is no distortion.
Any ideas?

Schematics would be helpful if anyones got them.

Try reseting the amp by holding down the CLEAN Channel button while powering up.

That is the first thing I tried. Nothing changed.

Dumb question does anything work when headphones are pluged in ? Did you open it up to take a look in side?

Yeah of course, should have described a little better. With headphones you get the same thing. I did take apart the amp and inspected the boards, and there are no obvious damage. No burn marks, broken components or detached/missing parts. Tested voltages where marked on the modulator board (correct name? the board with the processors) nothing wrong. Haven't had much time to look at it, but what I know is my buddies little girl sprayed water into it. BAD BAD I know. but the only place for water to get into is the little vent where modulator board lays. All the controls work and because it powers up ok I am pretty sure its the modulator board.

I hope you realize what a perverse failure mode this is. Sorta like a broke TV that only picks up game shows.

I'd start with cleaning everything that could've gotten wet, if there's any residue on the boards, then feel free to use water to clean it, just be very sure is very dry before applying power. A bit of DeOx D5 on all connectors and IC Sockets pop and push them back in. I'm thinking especially of the EPROM, but anything socketed. That's your best bet, that pins have corroded and you're seeing a deranged amp. Beyond that, Price a main board.

If cleaning doesnt work, where can I pick up a main board. I already have a part number, but nothing comes up on google. Is this something that needs to be bought from line 6?

I had the same problem with mine once... my issue was that one of the (A,B,C,D) bank buttons was stuck in. I freed the stuck button, reset the amp, and it was fine.
