    hey!

I measured on the lower (south) legs of both resistors and the value was 1188 kOhm.

Thanks a lot for your patience with me!!

I honestly don't know which ends of the resistors connect to C3. We can leave it for now and try a few more tests.

Set the amp up in distortion mode and carefully read the dc voltage at TP5. Again you should find somewhere around 200Vdc here. More importantly you should hear a loud noise through the amp when your meter lead touches the test point. Remember, just like you heard before when you tested at the other test point.

Next test at TP4, you should hear a hum when you are probing here, but there will not be very much voltage, if any.

Finally check at TP2. Make sure that the gain control is turned up here. You should again find somewhere around 200 Vdc here and again you should hear the noise.

        hey Bill
I did all of the above, and everything was exactly as you predicted.

If that's the case, then I don't know why the distortion channel is not working.

You have proven that the signal will pass through each stage of the amp.

            very weird indeed...
perhaps I performed one of the other tests wrong (such as the one with C3)...

I appreciate your willingness and time in helping me, thanks a lot.

Even if you had done the C3 test wrong, the tests that you did later showed that C3 was not the problem.
