  • silvertone 1484 filter cap can replacement

    Hi,
I'm rebuilding a twin twelve and need to replace the filter cap can which is a 20x10x8 450 volt can. I could use individual caps except it is gonna be hard to fit everything inside. I've already replaced all the other electrolytic caps inside and am wondering if anyone has used a higher value cap can in place of the original values as I can't locate one in current production.
    Thanks for any help.
    Dave

oops my mistake, the cap can on the twin twelve is a 20x10x5 450 can. could I use a 20x20x20 525v as sold by antique electronic supply?

If the 20uf is on the rectifier tube from the factory, yeah , go for it.
You do not want to add too much capacitance to the rectifier.

there is no rectifier tube, the amp uses a voltage doubler approach to get full wave rectification.silvertone1484.pdf

          Go for the 20/20/20.
