  • Magna Electronics Co. Melodier Model M-194-4-J bad OT?

This amp was brought to us for making a lot of noise. The amp had been pulled apart a few times. No OEM inside, but NOS looking tubes were installed when received Changed tubes, still noisy. Big E-caps were old so we replaced those. No change. Decided it was simple enough to remove most of the nte stuff and install some brand name parts assuming it would help. The output now is just a loud hum. There's no change when moving the volume and tone pots with or without a signal through the 1/4in inputs. A few moments after turned on, the 5y3 turned red hot. Tracked it down to the output transformer by trial and error. With the OT removed the amp sits quiet. I know I'm gambling with no load. Ran it just long enough to get some measurements off the pins. Any help is appreciated. I've built this kind of circuit for people before. It's really easy. I'm stumped trying to keep the circuit in this chassis. All voltages taken for AC to chassis unless indicated otherwise.

    5y3:
    pin 2- 7.4
    pin 4- 337
    pin 6- 337
    pin 8- 7.4

    6c5:
    pin 1-GND (0.067)
    pin 2- 4.7
    pin 3- 162
    pin 4- 0.6
    pin 5- 13.8
    pin 6- 7.8
    pin 7- -3.3VDC
    pin 8- -10.1VDC

    6L6:
    pin 1-GND (0.067)
    pin 2- 12.7
    pin 3- 0.0
    pin 4- 386VDC
    pin 5- -5.25
    pin 6- 0.0
    pin 7- 7.4
    pin 8- 0.0

    6sj7:
    pin 1- GND (0.067)
    pin 2- 4.89
    pin 3- 2.2VDC
    pin 4- 0.0
    pin 5- 2.19
    pin 6- 57
    pin 7- 10.8
    pin 8- 45

Nothing looks right here. I'm confused..
