  • Ampeg BA115 weird problem fixing poweramp

    Hi to all ,

I have here an Ampeg BA115 with shot outputstage. Removed the screws from the powertransistors, unsoldered them and looked rather stupid.
I can not remove the power-transistors! It looks as if they where mounted with a pad to the heat sink. And they won't move a bit.
Not even when using a little of force.

Anyone any advise for me, how to get rid of the parts (without destroying the whole amp ;-)) ?

    thx in advance

    greetings from austria

    Gerhard

The transistors are 'stuck' by the silicone paste.
A small drift pin in the mounting hole can be used to pry up the component.
The transistor case is plastic, so wacking on the side of it is not a good idea.
Unless you know the part is truly faulty.

      Yep! thx!
The transistors are mounted on little light-brown pads. Obviously the pads
held the cases on the heat sink. I think I am a bit too scared of damaging something.
The transistors are completely faulty. I think I will replace the pads too.

      thx Gerhard
