Hopefully this helps somebody out in the future.....had this unit for repair....dead horn...horn was ok....lots of sound from the woofer.....I suspected an output problem with the horn amp...couldn't find anything abnormal there.....so that led me to the pre-anp board........after scoping the signal through the circuit I noticed that the signal dissapeared at one of the ic chips so I installed a socket and chip...same problem...checked trace contuninity and it was good....

There was a cap...C68......the signal was on one side of C68 but not on the other....the joints looked great but I fell victim to this before....so I re-flowed all the joints in the area of this cap just to be safe....it is time consuming to do one joint at a time and re-test...the damm thing worked....even though the joints looked great, they were bad......even flexed the board slightly to see if the horn would cut out but it worked great.....put it back together and tested it again and it was working good.....isn't electronics a wonderful way to exercise your brain on times??..
    Cheers,
    Bernie
P.S. every time I look at a piece of equipment..no matter what it is, I always learn something new...and I am the type of person that is willing to look at anything....if it plugs into the wall or runs on a battery, I will take a crack at it...it is in my opinion the best way to learn...
Working...
