I have one of these in for a requested tube replacement. The owner complains of noise accompanying the note decay on certain patches. It didn't sound like a tube-related issue and sure enough when I patched the preamp-out into another amp it does the same thing. The preamp is independent of the tubes (even works in standby mode - so much for 'tube sound').
This amp is only played at home-listening levels and is recently acquired. At that volume the note decay on hi-gain settings (only) exhibits what sounds like a cross between low level noise, hash and crossover distortion. At performance volume I hear nothing untoward.
So, my question to those more familiar with this amp; is this a characteristic of this particular model, or is it a fault?
