  • Tele-Star M20R ss amp

    This amp is ODD. Has a schematic glued to inside of back panel but it's not right. The amps has a cracked 2sc720 transistor. I cannot seem to find a legit data sheet online. Anyone have one or a link? Need to figure out what to sub. The amp also has 2sc1398 transistors as well.

    What is wrong with the schematic?

    Is the C720 an output transistor? if so, is there a 2SAxxx something as the other output transistor? Try looking THAt one up. Other than the PNP versus NPN thing, they will have similar specs. Knowing those specs, we can substitute most anything.

    Are the C1398 transistors in the preamp maybe? In which case most any small signal NPN will work in their place.

      I think that it's just the opposite, the 1398 is an output and the 720 is a small preamp transistor.

      Look the parts up in and ECG or NTE replacement guide. That will at least give you the basic descriptions of the transistor type, voltage ratings, etc. Then pick something that you already have that is close. Remember that the pinouts will be different if you use a typical 2N numbered part.

        yeah, I didn't look them up, I was thinking about ways to determine things without drawings. If you can determine the complement, you have the output, and if you have a small signal transistor, pretty much all you need is polarity and voltage rating.

        careful with NTE. Your 2SC12345 might cross to their 45v something, but the real part might only have a 25v rating. You can use a 45v part in its place, but you can't assume the original part has a 45v rating just because the NTE does.

          I use Alltransistors a lot for looking up specs;
