You can see in nevetslab's middle pic they have a rack & pinion system that give a mechanical advantage.
I believe there is definitely value in having some discount/cheap tools in your arsenal. The trick is knowing which ones you can get away with, so long as you understand that you will ALMOST always get what you pay for. Also, if you have a job to do but all you can afford is a the most inexpensive option, then you can still get the most out of that particular tool. One example is during the last amp build, I needed some sort of table for my drill press to even allow me to use it for the project really. So I bought a harbor freight one the sold for like $28. It actually looked pretty nice! I only needed it to get me through 1 project, so I bought it. I literally had to repair/rebuild it at least 3 times throughout the amp build because I was such a piece of shit . But, i got me through the job, and I couldn’t have done what I needed to do without it. So, I would have to say it was probably worth the $28 I spent on it. But not a penny more.

For me personally, there are tools where I just can’t and won’t buy cheap anymore. Things like chucks, drills, pliers, cutters, bearings... really any hand tool I really on daily or for precision work.
To bring it home I’ll just add that the 1 Heyco tool we use in our shop has been in daily use for over 30 years. Im sure there are other good options, but thats the one I will purchase for my own sbop.
If I have a 50% chance of guessing the right answer, I guess wrong 80% of the time.
