Hi,
My amp is a 8-9 years old Budda VerbMaster - an 18W with 2 EL84's, 3 12AX7, one 5u4 rectifier and one 12AU7 for the reverb circuit. It's a straight fwd amp - i think it's class A - don't have the schematic or the layout (anyone have it btw?)
the problem:
lately it sort of lost it's clean headroom - the sound is overdrived all the time even at the lowest gain setting. When going from stnby to on (or 'rest' and 'go' in the Budda language...) it makes sort of a hoovering sound - like sand's coming through.
I changed all of the tubes and tried different combinations but I can't get it right. any ideas? other reasons? things i can do? are there any caps or such that i might need to change?
THANKS
