  • Where you getting your Sankin 2SC3264 or 2SC3858?

Got a blown Eden amp with four of the big Sankin output drivers.

It looks like PNP 2SA1494's are available but not the NPN's.

    What are you guys using?

    Thanks.

Obsolete parts are difficult to obtain unless you risk fleabay.
Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.

I've been using MJL21193 and MJL21194 200W Bipolar xstrs (On Semiconductor), which is a different package (TO-3PBL), so there is hold drilling/tapping involved on the heat sink. I just tried to upload the data sheet from my computer, but the system isn't allowing it to be viewed. You can find the part on-line.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing the same as I have known good ones.

Used pulls probably wouldn't be matched.

        Thanks.

Wondering if instead of drilling a tapping a hole in the center if one could use aluminum channel to hold the transistor against the heatsink using the original holes to mount the channel. I think the original mounting holes are wider than the TO3PBL package.

That is essentially what I was doing at BGW Systems years ago. The GTA power amp PCB was laid out for the Sanken MT-200 power xstrs, with the full size of the PCB serving to clamp the parts down. When we changed to the MJL21193/MJL21194's, the PCB did just that. I did have one other PCB that used the MT-200 parts, and those, I had to add a blank fiberglass spacer between the PCB and the parts to clear a couple solder pads.

Yup....much easier than drilling and tapping the holes. Good idea!

Yup I was trying to remember B&D earlier today. Enzo got me over to them years ago. I remembered it started with a B and you know I remembered half the name at least.
