  • Another Free Amp, yay?

This week we have a PV Transtube Supreme.
Not worth much, the cab is all beat, missing front panel.
I'll make alot more using the parts for repairs.

I'm sure you peeps have a bunch of amps not worth much or repairing that people gave you.

I have like four little Fender combos and even an Esteban practice amp.
We give them away to needy kids at my friend's store.

You are repurposing them for a GOOD cause.

For all I've heard about the Transtube amps, they're said to be pretty good.?. Is it operational? How does it sound? If it's not operational, can it be made functional easily? I might be tempted to do that just to see what it sounds like. Even if I were planning to part it out.

Oh it took all of about ten minutes to replace a shorted output transistor.

It's missing the front panel and someone tried to make a replacement and mounted the reverb tank (which is good) wrong and ripped out the wires to the connector.

I don't like to see amps destroyed, I try to resurrect as many as possible, but the cold hard logistics of it is I can use the parts to fix many more amps than this one is worth.

I understand. Never questioned it. Makes sense.
