  • Sun Sceptre reverb pan? Impedance/replacement?

No numbers on the pan. Looks like it was replaced with a fender pan and now not working. Any help with the numbers or pan substitute would be appreciated.

Early models used a Fender tank, something like 4AB3C1B. Later models used basically the same thing with a little lever, accessible form the back, that would lock the springs down for transport.
WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.

A schematic would help. We don't even know if it's solid state or tube driven reverb and can't even guess on a tank without estimating I/O impedances.

Attached is the only Sunn schematic I have on file that mentions the word "Sceptre." It shows a tube driven reverb so I would expect a traditional Fender style tank to work if that tank was functional hooked up with the input and outputs connected correctly and the drive & recovery circuity functional.

          Thanks, Tom!
I think a 4AB3A1B should work if that schematic matches (or at least the reverb circuit). The mod tanks have grounds that are configurable, so that might be a good option. Then again, the tank in the amp might be just fine. What number is on the tank that is currently in the amp? Or, what is the DCR on the input and output of the tank you have?
