  • Marshall 2204?

    Happy New Year, folks!

Finally found a Marshall 1965B cabinet to match the A version I've had, and use a Traynor 20-watt Bass Mate head to drive 'em. Sounds pretty good, no ear bleed, but not quite as much drive as I'd like. Sounds much better with a Tube Screamer........

Decided that a Marshall-style 2204 might be the way to go -- most reviews I've read say that it's one of the better-sounding MV amps around. I can always cut the B+ with a high-wattage zener and use 6V6s to keep the power at the 20-watt level.

    Couple questions:

What'd be a good source for a chassis. preferably aluminum? Maybe a Mojo Marshall JTM? I'm sure I can get a repro front and back panel set, or something pretty close. Cabinet won't be a problem.

Circuit card? Again, maybe the JTM 45? Figured I'd use Marshall-style filters and transformers.

Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance,
    dB

Regarding the chassis, this one looks like it would work if you don't mind punching and drilling the holes yourself:
