Increasing that resistor will result in a decrease in gain. And distinctly NOT require adjustment to the coupling cap knee frequency. It's a totally different circuit. The circuits dictate the values. In other words, if a smaller coupling cap and a 330k resistor are good in one circuit it doesn't mean it will be appropriate for every circuit. Or even most circuits. But I'm glad you're enjoying your amps.

Thanks for the pointer Chuck. Quite true and appreciated.
Another thought I had, I figured maybe the OP might wind up with a new rhythm
channel freeing up a more suitable lead channel rather than trying to make ch2 something it's not.

Sounds like its not appropriate for my circuit but out of curiosity what is this English gain trick? Something to do with a ratio of components? Also I typically use each channel for an entire song and use each channel for a different flavor for different songs. I used to be in the camp that uses a rhythm channel and a lead channel but I don't care for sounding like I changed amps in the middle of a song. That being said its nice to have a British channel on tap. Btw, great pointer chuck

Not "English gain trick". ENGL is a manufacturer of high gain rock/metal amps from germany.
It seems all the Engl's have one stage with the 330k/3.3k for overdrive. I find it a little easier to play
hammer ons or non-picked fills without cranking the od so high that you get mush. I play rhythm not lead.
There's a bit of a split camp between ENGL and MESA users. Personally I like Mesa clean and od up to MK2, then Engl Savage.
Dokken used Engl, and so did Rainbow. A lot of high gainers use either these days.
