  • Twin Reverb - model year?

How can I find out the model year on a Twin Reverb? I'm not seeing any identifiable model # stamps inside or out that I can track down. Thinking its the 100 watt version 74-76 vintage but would like to narrow down. Its a Silver Face Twin Reverb, Fender Musical Instruments faceplate. The amp includes a push\pull master volume, grill cloth is laced with orange sparkle cloth.

The tube chart includes numbers on the lower right side - 047944
Stamped on the Hum Balance - AG0639
    Speaker - 7369 67 8436

Any thoughts on year \ speaker model?

    Fender Twin Reverb

Sounds like you have the year range.
This might help narrow it down.

To really nail it, you have to disassemble the chassis from the cab.
There are codes on the transformers that specify date of manufacture (of the transformer)

Very cool. Thanks for the info.

Snow day tomorrow in MA. You guys have been hit pretty hard already. I'll be digging in and pulling the amp chassis out. Any refs on how to disassemble a Twin amp? Promise to stay away from the electronics without a tech nearby. The amp has been unplugged since last week.

The speaker is an Eminence but the date code might be from 1984??
The hum balance pot looks like 1976.

You don't have to pull the chassis; you can read the tranny codes without doing that.

Looks like the right speaker was replaced with the Eminence. The speaker was installed with a cardboard shield around the rim and secured with two bolts. Spend a dime brother!

The left speaker looks like an original Utah from 1976 - 328631

100 watts and they blow out the speaker??? - set preamp and master volume to 11 and stand back.....

Thanks to all for your help - Jazz P, Bruce, Dave

Check the latest issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine, there is an article about dating Fender amps.
