  • Help with a '74 Fender Super Reverb

I'm new to the forum and wanted to ask for some help. I am looking at trading a new Fender Mustang for a '74 Fender Super Reverb. I haven't seen this amp yet - only spoken with the owner via phone (he's 2 hrs. away). I've also done some online investigating since I've not seen / played this model amp before - sounds like it should be super clean, loud and heavy.

The owner says everything is original (except new grill cloth) and I know it doesn't have a master volume control. He also says the tolex has some bubbles. Reverb and Tremolo both are supposed to be working correctly.

Can any current owners give me an idea of how this should sound when I try it out and any potential problem areas to look for? I've not got a long history with tube amps - I had a new Fender Twin 100 for a short while and a little Epi Valve Jr. head right now. Should this amp hum or be quiet with no guitar plugged in? How about plugged in?

Any help would be really appreciated - Thanks!
