Bruce : the tube info site with the many links to datasheets for each tube is great, and the software rocks as well! it was a site (&software) i had not yet discovered, so i am even more happy, because i know that it'll help me from now on as well..
Alex : what you said helped me out a lot, because i used the program that Bruce pointed me to, and i tracked down an ECL86 datasheet that also has a picture, & looking at all of it, i am now sure that that is what my second tube is..
