  • 7581a in Fender amps?

I have a couple of fender amps that sounds really nice. The thing I wonder is if 7581A's in the power section would give me more headroom. I sometimes find my self in a gig-situation where I'd like my amp to be clearer that it is. The plate in the amp I'd like to experiment with is ca 460 V, I can remember the exact figure.

Has anyone tried 7581A's in Fender amps as a replacement to 6L6GC's?

Yes, you just need to rebias accordingly, they are 35W tubes.

Yes, they will work VERY well, and should give you nice headroom. These were one of the first "alternative" power tubes I can remember using in Fender amps. Great tubes! I wish I had a set right now, but I sold the last NOS ones we had last year.
